For over 60 years it’s been our mission to ensure oral health care – and now vision care – is accessible and affordable for all Rhode Islanders. We accomplish that not just through our products, great people and service, but through our philanthropic efforts in the community. We’re especially proud of the impact we’ve made over the last year alone – from the more than $1 million we provided to clinics, academic institutions, non-profits, and other worthy organizations across the state, to the more than 1400 hours of volunteer time our employees gave to causes they believed in.

Our partners

We’ve established important partnerships with community organizations to provide Rhode Islanders with the accessible, affordable oral health care they need and deserve.

Through financial grants, equipment donations and other in-kind support, Delta Dental of Rhode Island has played a major role over the last decade in building, expanding and upgrading dental operatories at the Rhode Island Free Clinic, Rhode Island Hospital’s Samuels Sinclair Dental Center,

Our members

Blackstone Valley Community Health Center, Providence Community Health Centers, Thundermist Health Center, Wood River Health, and more.

As the healthcare industry has worked to navigate a nationwide shortage of workers, a large focus of Delta Dental’s community support has been placed on strengthening the statewide oral health sector’s talent pipeline, including a longtime partnership with the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI). This year, we began the Delta Dental of Rhode Island scholarship, which gives financial support to students in CCRI’s Dental Hygiene Program who commit to working in Rhode Island’s oral health sector for at least one year after they graduate.  We also provided funding to help renovate CCRI's on-campus oral health clinic, a facility that serves as a hands-on training space for CCRI students while providing free dental services for more than 1,000 Rhode Islanders every year.

Delta Dental of Rhode Island has also committed to a new initiative with the Samuels Sinclair Dental Center at Rhode Island Hospital. In a partnership that dates back more than a decade, we are working together to launch the state's first Oral Surgery Residency Program. Once established, the Delta Dental Oral Surgery Clinic and the Rhode Island Hospital Oral Surgery Residency Program will be a four-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) program. It will accept two residents per year and support multiple newly-created, full-time clinical, administrative, and programmatic positions at Rhode Island Hospital.

The new residency program is made possible by a grant from Delta Dental of Rhode Island, which will also help fund the purchase of new, industry-best equipment to enhance the center’s operatories. These upgrades are important for providing dental services to children and intellectually and developmentally disabled patients of all ages.

Our people

Every day, we live our mission to improve the oral health of all Rhode Islanders. We work hard to provide the best service and the fastest answers
for our members and client businesses.

With a team and leaders who are deeply committed to good business, good quality of work life and good work, it’s no wonder 44% of our employees have been with us for 10 or more years. Not to mention, Delta Dental of Rhode Island was named one of the
Best Places to Work in RI by Providence Business News in 2023.

And then there’s our culture of giving back. Year after year, the people of Delta Dental find time to volunteer their talent, passion and expertise to over 100 organizations and causes that need a helping hand. In fact, in 2023, we were honored to have that commitment recognized by Rhode Island Monthly and the Rhode Island Foundation with a
Common Good Award.

Our network of providers

Delta Dental of Rhode Island has the largest network of dentists both in the state and nationwide. We’re proud to say that nine out of ten dentists in Rhode Island participate in our network, making it easy for you to get the dental care you need with an in-network dentist.

We’re also proud to say that 98% of our members are satisfied with the quality of their dental care, thanks to the great providers in our network. And our providers have some pretty big hearts, volunteering their time and talents to bring dental care to the people of Rhode Island who need it most, including statewide efforts like the RI Mission of Mercy.  This annual two-day dental clinic provides treatment, at no cost, to hundreds in our area who are uninsured, underinsured, or can’t otherwise afford dental care.
